Avarakai kulambu



This's a coconut Based gravy.It'll go with White rice,dosai,idli.,etc., Here i used Gingelly oil.,will give excellent aroma..you can use any oil.

Ingredients:

  1. Avarakai-20
  2. Onion-1/2 medium chopped
  3. Tomato-1 chopped
  4. Gingelly oil-2 teaspoon
  5. Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
  6. Tamarind juice-1/2 cup
  7. Salt/chilly powder-to taste
To grind:

  1. Coconut-1/2 cup
  2. Jeera-1 teaspoon
  3. Kas kas (Poppy seeds)-1 teaspoon
  4. Curry masal powder-2 teaspoon(any brand)
  5. Coriander Powder-2 teaspoon
Grind all Ingredients with required water.Keep aside.


Cut the edges.and slit it,take out the whole beans. Cut the avarakai in to 1"size piece.

Method:

  • Heat oil in the pan,Splutter  Mustard.
  • Add onion fey well.Put tomato  and fry till gets soft.
  • Now add the Avarakai/vegetable cook it for 4-5 mns.
  • After that,.Add Tamarind juice ,red chilli powder,turmeric powder mi x well ,cook it 2 mns.
  • Mix once in between.,Once it’s starts to lose oil.Add ground mixture.,mix well.
  • Add salt., pour enough water and cook it for 5 mns.
  • Finally garnish with cilantro.,serve hot with rice.,

  3. Hi prabha today I tried this kuzhambu with some doubt n so much hesitation bcoz I never tried tamarind juice with curry powder...but the kuzhambu came out really good n we all liked it :) thanx prabha
